A prominent landmark along the Pahang River, the Masjid Sultan Abdullah tells a rich story of Islamic traditions, arts and culture since it was converted into a mosque museum in 2015.
Built in 1929 to the 11th century hypostyle architecture, the museum houses a collection of exhibits – from valuable scriptures and paper documents to textiles, musical instruments, weaponry and scientific equipment – in its vaulted spaces framed by imposing two-tier arches.
Ligth and Transperancy
As the appointed museum showcase manufacturer, Trika introduced multiple high- specification Turin showcases of varying sizes to present the exhibits while complementing the interior architectural features of the heritage building. These customised Turin showcases were built on solid white compressed resin plinth bases with minimal planar profiles to blend with the alabaster white interiors.
Other document-style showcases with the latest surface-bonded glass technology were supported by all-glass plinths and nestled in niches between pillars to hold fragile fragments of ancient Islamic scriptures, while walls of 2.6 metre tall showcases were installed from floor to ceiling to tell the stories of everyday objects and weapons used over the centuries
Frameless All-Glass Elegance
With frame-less glass panels structurally bonded to the profiles, the elegant and classic all-glass vitrine of the Turin case system provides a clear 360-degree view of the exquisite exhibits which are either suspended with customised stainless steel pendant rods or raised to eye level with clear acrylic panels. Air-tight and tested to 0.1 (10%) of air exchange per day, these museum cases are conditioned with passive humidity artsorbs to counter any fluctuating humidity, ensuring the preservation of the priceless antiquities.Demountable and modular, the Turin showcases could be assembled onsite effortlessly in time for the opening of the museum in July 2015. The result is a series of elegant and high-specification display showcases created to honour the exhibits it held as well as the majestic interiors of this important historical site.
